Hi everyone! I can’t wait to share these life hacks with you. These are all things that I have done in the past year, and I can’t believe how much healthier and happier I have felt ever since! It really is so refreshing and amazing what your body and mind are capable of. These hacks can also help a lot of different problems going on in your life, if you let them. If you find yourself easily breaking out, unable to sleep at night, or insecure about your body, I promise these hacks CAN help you.
1) FOLLOW FITNESS GURUS ON INSTAGRAM
Thank goodness for fit people! I can’t believe how much more motivated I feel to work out after following certain gurus on Insta! Seeing “before and after” pictures are truly amazing, because EVERY fitness guru DID come from somewhere. No one is born super fit! It gives me so much hope for myself. Here are a few of my favorite fitness gurus: Kaisa Fit, Abby Polluck, and Whitney Simmons.
2) NEVER LET YOUR WATER BOTTLE BE EMPTY
As Dory once said “Just keep drinking, just keep drinking…” Ok no she didn’t, but you get the gist. It’s so amazing how much water can change your life. You may be thinking “what?” but I’m not just talking about water in general. I’m talking about the full 8-10 glasses a day. It boosts your immune system, helps clear up your skin, and it helps grow your hair and eyelashes. Water is also your best detox. Last summer, while Chris and I dated long distance, I chose to drink at least 5 full water bottles during my 9-5 shift every day. Did I have to take a potty break every 30 minutes? Yes. Was it worth it? YES. I was so healthy, and my skin was clearer than ever! So the second your water bottle is empty, REFILL IT!
3) TAKE TIME MAKING YOUR GROCERY LIST
I am notorious for opening up Pinterest while I’m walking through the isles of a grocery store to find quick meal recipes/ ingredients. Is anyone else guilty of this? Usually, I can never find anything quickly enough, so I’ll just give up and resort to unhealthy food! Today I took about an hour though, researching different healthy meals and smoothies before I ran to Walmart. I planned out all of the different ingredients I would need, and now I am so excited about my vegetable/ fruit filled fridge!
4) HEALTHY BREAKFAST
This may sound so cliche, but the very first thing you eat in the morning will dictate your future cravings throughout the day. For example, if the first thing I eat in the morning is an oreo (speaking from experience), then I am going to crave sugar the rest of the day. But on the other hand, if the first thing I eat is a fruit smoothie, I will continue to crave healthy alternatives instead. Here are some of my favorite Smoothie Recipes.
5) EARLY TO BED, EARLY TO RISE
Another cliche. I wouldn’t include this if I hadn’t tried it for myself though, and let me tell you– IT WORKS. I can’t believe how much healthier I feel when I go to bed at 11:30 PM and wake up at 8 AM. I always have my entire day ahead of me to get everything done. We are all guilty of sleeping in until noon at some point in our lives, and can’t you agree that it made you feel gross and groggy? I’ve also noticed that getting on this healthy sleep schedule has made me a happier person in general. It’s crazy what sleep can do! Now go set your alarms and start now! You’ll thank me later.
6) STOP TEMPTING YOURSELF. QUIT BUYING JUNK.
Before you start crying (like I did), give me 15 seconds to explain why you should do this. The more you eat junk, the more you’re going to crave it. So why not completely eliminate that option from your pantry to avoid future temptation? Life without junk food seems like a horrible thing, but the longer you go without it, the more you will NOT want it back in your life. The outcomes are amazing.
7) SNACKS, SNACKS, SNACKS SNACKS SNACKS EVERYBODYYY!
(Hopefully you got my musically censored reference.) Trying to stick to only 3 meals per day will make you crazy, and it will make you want to consume every piece of food in sight when it’s time for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. To avoid over-eating during meals, plan out healthy snacks in between to keep you satisfied. This could be a handful of fruit or even some wheat thins and hummus. By eating healthy snacks, it will prevent you from gaining weight through over-eating, and it will keep you satisfied throughout the day.
8) CHOOSE TO BE ACTIVE.
If you don’t have time to workout in the day, that’s fine. You can still be healthy without going to the gym everyday. But daily activity is required if you’re wanting to live a healthy lifestyle. Every time you have the chance to use an escalator/ elevator, choose to use the stairs. If you ever find yourself watching TV alone, choose to do some jumping jacks. If you are watching TV with friends, choose to invite them to do jumping jacks with you. Choose to have fun. Notice that I said “CHOOSE” in everyone of those options. A healthy lifestyle is a CHOICE waiting to be made.
9) CONSISTENCY IS KEY. PUSH YOURSELF.
If you’ve been good and you’ve eaten healthy all week, don’t allow for cheat days. If you absolutely need one once in a while to keep you going, that’s fine. But if you want to look and feel better than you currently do right now, don’t give in to what you’ve tried to stay away from! This will make you grow in so many different ways. The longer you go without something, the less you will feel inclined to need it! (Take it from my senior year Taco Bell addiction where I felt the need to get it 4 days a week lol it was a rough time.)
10) LOVE YOURSELF.
You are your own worst critic. Everyone has flaws. Everyone has weaknesses. You’re not the only one. You may feel self conscious about your weight, your love handles, or your lack of a thigh gap, but I promise you that no one else is noticing. The second you realize this, you will have completed your first step of becoming healthy. In order to have a healthy lifestyle, you MUST be positive about your own self. I swear you will start to notice a difference once you do.
